Jamalapuram Venkateshwara Swamy Temple, situated in Jamalapuram, is in the Khammam district. The god in this Temple is Lord Balaji, a swayambhu Lord who self-showed in this place. The temple is one of the oldest in the region and in Telengana and have been in existence since considerable antiquity. The temple was extended by Sri Krishnadevaraya, the ruler of the Vijayanagara Empire, and situated in a lovely atmosphere with great green slopes. This Temple is broadly known as Telangana Tirupathi or Chinna Tirupathi.

Legend:

The Temple’s Foundation, Jabali Maharshi, is a master of Lord Sri Rama. He came to Jamalapuram and was attracted by the magnificence of nature. So he stayed and repented to the Lord on Soochi Giri Hill. One beautiful day, Lord Vishnu remained before his eye and favoured him. As the priest wanted, the Lord becomes an icon in his place as Sri Venkateswara’s symbol.

After quite a while, the individual called Yagnanarayana Sharma took a rest here on his tour to Kashi and felt a mysterious slope. He then realised the connection with these slopes and trees each night. Yagnanarayana thought he had some association with this place and chose to live there for quite a while. Lord Venkateswara came as a kid and played with cattlemen every day. If anyone asks for his name and place, the kid answers your signature and location are mine. Yagnanarayana Sharma got to know that child, and he reached the highest point of the slope to think about him. There, he discovered Lord Venkateswara’s icon and compositions on the stone.

Architecture

The architecture reflects the traditional South Indian style, adorned with intricate carvings and sculptures that narrate stories from Hindu scriptures. The temple is situated on a hill top for which covered stairs are there to climb up. The temple has a front gopuram with a prakharam.
