On this day we first travelled to Ramalayam at Mallur followed by the Shiva temple at Mallur and then finally to Hemachala Shri Lakshmi Narasimha Temple at Mallur. There is not much information about the Ramalayam and the Shiva temple, just that they are very ancient, but the temple at Hemachala is almost 5000 years old.

Sri Hemachala Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple situated at Mallur, in Telengana is a famous Hindu temple dedicated to lord Vishnu’s avatar Narasimha. Located at a mountain top around 1500, ft, the temple is situated in a forest area and is one of the most beautiful places to visit. This temple has many specialities, the height of mollaviraat Sri Narasimha Swamy is upto 10 feet. It is located in the midst of forest. The Belly part of Moolavirat idol is soft as human skin. Malluru famous for Sri Ugra Narasimha Swamy temple, is located approximately 90 Km from Bhadrachalam (famous Sri Rama Shrine in south India) and approximately 130KM from Warangal City. The dwjasthambha here at the temple is nearly 60 feet in height. There is a rockformed Ugra Anjaneya Swamy Statue near to the temple. It is the first of its kind known in South India. There is a continuous water flow near the temple, where its from the top of the hills. The temple has been renovated during Godavari pushkarams 2003. The temple is located 4km from into the forest from the village Mangapet, which is on the Eturunagaram-Bhadrachalam Highway.

The journey to the temple is an experience in itself, requiring a climb of about 120-150 steps, with devotees encountering the Shikanjaneya Hanuman Temple along the way, which is believed to be the protector of the region.

The temple is famous for its main deity, Lord Narasimha Swamy, whose idol is enshrined in a rock that resembles a human body with hair on the chest. One of the most fascinating aspects of the idol is that when devotees touch the chest, their finger sinks into the rock, leaving an imprint. This unique feature, found only at Hemachala, draws devotees from all over. The idol is 9.2 feet tall and produces water from the navel, known as Chandana Dhravam, which is considered a holy theertham. Devotees believe this sacred water has the power to cleanse sins and cure diseases.

Legend:

Dating back over 4,776 years, the temple holds a rich history and significant spiritual importance. It is said that the sage Agastya named the hill Hemachala. According to legend, the demon king Ravana gifted this land to his sister Shurpanaka. The area is also believed to be where Lord Rama defeated 14,000 demons led by Khara Dushana.
