The Pochavaram boating point is situated at Koida village around 73 KMs from Bhadrachalam and is one of the gateways for Perantapailli village in the Papikondalu hill ranges, located in the Eastern Ghats. Papikondalu hill ranges a mesmerizing natural wonder nestled amidst the lush greenery of Andhra Pradesh. Renowned for its breathtaking landscapes and serene ambiance, Papikondalu is a popular destination for nature lovers, adventure seekers, and spiritual enthusiasts
Stretching along the banks of the mighty Godavari
River, these hills offer a picturesque panorama of dense forests, winding
waterways, and cascading waterfalls. Visitors can embark on a memorable journey
through Papikondalu by taking a scenic boat ride along the Godavari River. The
journey offers an immersive experience into the heart of nature, allowing
travelers to witness the rich biodiversity of the region, including exotic
flora and fauna.
Whether it's trekking through rugged trails, enjoying a serene cruise on the
river, or simply soaking in the tranquility of the surroundings, Papikondalu
Hill Range promises an unforgettable retreat into the lap of nature, making it
a must-visit destination for anyone seeking solace and adventure in the embrace
of Mother Earth.
There are various boat tours that various tourism
agencies provide between Rajamahendravaram, Pochavaram boating point and
Bhadrachalam. The tourism packages normally including pick up from
Rajamahendravaram, drop at Bhadrachalam and starting from Bhadrachalam, drop at
Rajamahendravaram, both via the Pochavaram boating point. It is advisable to
book the packages online, as we went there unaware of the package tours and
found the place absolutely jam packed with no tickets available. Also we
weren’t aware of the packages offered and the time duration. Normally, the tour
packages picks you up from Bhadrachalam, takes you till Pochavaram boating
point, from where you cross the river through boats and ferries and reach the
Perantapalli village famous for Ramakrishna muni vatika (Ashramam) and
Veereshwara Swamy Temple. The tour normally drops you on the other side of the
river in an island and the return might be either in the evening or the next
day (based on what I enquired there at Pochavaram boating point). Food and all
are provided as part of the package.
You can also book the tickets there, but it is better
to book the tickets in advance as there is huge rush. There is a huge parking
there and many tourists also prefer reaching there in car and then take the
boat after parking their vehicle.
From Bhadrachalam, till pochavaram boating point is a
very beautiful drive through the remote hills and jungle area. While on one
side the beautiful and enchanting Godavari flows with you, on the other side is
the forest and the hill providing a beautiful ecology that makes the drive
really beautiful.
Also on way there is small tributary of Godavari, the
sabari river which you would need to cross and that is another one beautiful
site one encounters on way.
We went till the boating point and couldn’t go to the
other side of the river as we were unaware of the package. Hopefully next time
will visit. But it’s a must visit if you are in that area.
