Battle of Bobbili 1757

The town of Bobbili was founded during the 17th century by Pedda Rayudu, the 15th descendant of the Rajah of Venkatagiri of Venkatagiri estate (Nellore). However, with time, the town became known as "Pebbuli", then "Bebbuli" and finally "Bobbili".

Venkatagiri Estate: The kingdom was founded circa 1208 AD by Warrior King Velugoti Recharla Bhetala Naidu[2] and existed since the time of Kakatiyas during the reign of Kakati Ganapathi Deva Rai. Later the kingdom was a feudatory under Vijaynagara Empire. This is the only connection between Vizianagarm and Vijaynagar and no way the two should be confused.

After Chicacole (srikakulam), Ellore and Rajamhundry were conceded to the French general Bussy by subedar of Deccan, and the Treaty of Aurangabad, while Rajamhundry king gave a warm welcome to the general, there were differences between the Maharajas of Vizianagaram and the ruler of Bobbili (bobbili which is around 55 KMs from Vizianagaram). The Bobbili's were defeated (a long story of the war can be studied for more details), the entire clan destroyed, fort at Bobbili was completely destroyed. Even after all this, there is a street in the name of Bussy in Yanam.
