Nidigonda is a Village in Raghunathpalle Mandal in Warangal District of Telangana State. The ancient 500-pillored Trikutalayam, dedicated to Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu and Sun god, built during the Kakatiya regime is present here and unfortunate to state in complete neglect and entirely scattered on ground. It is really unfortunate that the state government or ASI is not at all interested in doing anything or restoring the temple with locals continuously plundering the precious sculptures and artifacts scattered on the ground.

The beautiful Nandi with the most beautiful and brilliant work on over it along with the motifs, vigrahas and sculptures lying on the ground are facing a slow and complete extinction, which otherwise could have been made one of the best tourist spots of the area.

According to the legend, Kakatiya ruler Ganapatideva gave the Nidigonda village to his younger sister Kundamamba towards ‘Pasupu Kumkuma’. She built the Trikutalayam as a token of gratitude for her brother. The temple was called as Trikutalayam because the people worshipped the idols of Lord Siva, Lord Vishnu and the Sun God. The Primary deity is Lord Shiva and Vishnu. This temple completely ruins in state of disappear. The temple is highly popular after the 1000-pillor temple at Hanmakonda. The temple was built in such a way that the sun rays fall directly on the Siva Linga in the temple at sunrise and sunset.

The temple is minimum 1000 years old, could be much more.

How to Reach

By Road: Nidigonda is the nearest bus stand around 1.0 KMs from the temple. The village is a very remote place and I could hardly see any local mode of communication except the long distant autos or cabs. There might be bus service from Warangal, but self-vehicle is the best option.

By Rail: Warangal is the nearest railway station almost 57 KMs

By Air: Hyderabad airport is the nearest airport around 80 KMs

Parking and Photography

It’s a rural area, parking on the side of the main road or near the temple is easily available.

No restriction in photography. Drones can be easily used

Timings:

There is no timing for it as it is not in a gated compound. It’s always open.

Stay options:

Warangal or Hyderabad can be the best options to stay. There are ample options including Government Haritha Kakatiya Hotels
