Baba Kakharua Baidyanath temple is situated in Manatri
around 36 KMs from Baripada, and is dedicated to Lord Shiva who is also known
as Kakharua Baidyanath. Previously the dwelling place of King Ramachandra
Bhanja of Mayurbhanja, who lived here for a short period, the place is now a
thickly populated place with remnants of many forts. During the holy month of
Shravan, the kaudias come and pour water on the shiva lingam.
Mahashivaratri is the main festival observed in the
temple, which attracts a large number of devotees. A big wall surrounds the
temple which is known as “Kurum Bedha”. The temple is one of the best known
pilgrimages of Mayurbhang district.
